I will continue this until we come to me in the end and I'm afraid I will disappoint you with my teenage years as not much happened in the small town I lived.

AND I had no idea you read my script!Moniquehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09349799166295592394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3110113339394685316.post-63464595974658345032013-08-27T11:52:25.886-07:002013-08-27T11:52:25.886-07:00It's great to see you back on the air, if only...It's great to see you back on the air, if only to leave something for your grandchildren. If they're like most people, they'll have some questions about the family, and where they came from.

(1) My personal experience of the Netherlands is such that my mind really pictures it as primarily urban. Here in the US, there's been a lot of development, so even in my lifetime farms have turned into shopping malls. I would suspect that the Netherlands inhabited by your Opa, Opoe, Pake and Beppe was considerably different than it is now. But reading about the agrarian history might really be of interest to your family.

My own family, on both sides, was primarily agrarian up until a generation ago.

(2) I have some wooden clogs around here someplace which I took back as keepsakes from Amsterdam. They look mighty uncomfortable, and it's difficult for me to actually picture people wearing them. But apparently, they did, not for ceremonial reasons, but as everyday footwear.

(3) The piglet story: shows just how much we, in the 21st Century, seem to be divorced from our food supply (except for farmer Drake, of course).

(4) Of course, the part I'm looking forward to is the story of you and the Swinging 60s (your teenage years). I've read a little about that period of time in Dutch history, but not that much. And it's a period of time that I'm interested in.

(5) BTW, feel free to erase this comment. I realize that you're putting this up for your grandkids. But all the same, I just wanted to stop by and say "hi" and "you're not forgotten."

(6) I haven't given up on the possibility of another Monique script just yet.X.
